Robert C. Short, Sr.

BYFIELD — Robert C. Short, Sr., 77, of Byfield, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Beverly Hospital in Beverly. He was the husband of Carol E. (Ward) Short of Byfield. Robert was born in Byfield, on January 25, 1935 to the late Henry M. and Alberta (Steele) Short.

He graduated in 1953 from the Essex Agricultural and Technical School in Danvers. Bob was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the Navy CB’s. He worked for over 40 years as a milkman for the H.P. Hood Company. He was an active member of the Erie 4 Fire Department in Georgetown, as well as a member of Protection Fire CO. #1 of Byfield. He was a member of the Methuen Gospel Hall. Using his education from Essex “Aggie” he spent his leisure time planning and executing vibrant landscapes.

In addition to his wife Carol, he is survived by three sons, Robert C. Jr. and his wife, Doreena of Ossippe, N.H., Barry W. Short of Franklin, N.H. and Jay E. and his wife, Cheryl Short of Byfield; also four siblings, brothers, Henry M. Short of Hampton, N.H., John H. and his wife, Katherine Short of Byfield, George L. Short of Byfield; and his sister, Miriam D’Errico of St. Lucie, Fla. He also leaves six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and 16 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Harriet LaCroix and Margaret Savoie.

ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 10 a.m. in the F.S. Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 14 Independent Street, Rowley. Burial will follow in the South Byfield Cemetery, Jackman Street, Georgetown. A period of visitation will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013, 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Loving grandmother of Leah Curran of New Hampshire and Carlyann Curran of Hudson. Dear sister of Philip Sampson of Beverly, Richard Sampson of Windham, N.H., Michael Sampson of Medfield and the late Paul Sampson. Daughter of the late Leonard and Mary (Hamilton) Sampson and stepdaughter of the late Mildred (Gallagher) Sampson. Clare is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She graduated from Ursuline High School in 1972 and from Youngstown State University in 1976. She worked most of her life in retail with May Dept. Stores, Carlisle Dept. Stores and retired from the J.C. Penney Co. in 2003. Mary Pat was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and is survived by her husband, Curtis Finley; her daughter, Elizabeth Romine (John Clemenzi); grandchildren, Grace Romine, Kathryn Clemenzi and John “Jack” Clemenzi; stepdaughter, Jessica Finley; sisters, Jane Orr (Allan), Catherine "Cate" Romine, and Martha Romine (Earl Calvin); and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Valenage and grandson, Samuel Clemenzi.

She was a graduate of Manchester High School. Lori was employed as a manager at Haley's Ice Cream and Restaurant in Newburyport and was also previously employed at Rowley Animal Hospital, as she had a true love for animals. Above all, Lori was a devoted mother to her beloved son Bobby. Lori was a very kind and caring person who would help anyone. She loved caring for her dogs and cats and spending time with friends and family at a family camp in North Portland, Maine. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, motorcycles, and muscle cars. Lori is survived by her husband, Robert J. Wright Jr. and her son, Robert J. Wright III, both of Rowley; her parents,Harry T. and Connie (Stetson) Parsons of Harpswell, Maine; her brothers, Jeffery T. Parsons and his wife, Mary Macy of Mississippi and Thomas Parsons and his wife, Brooke of Georgetown. Lori is also survived by her mother-in-law, Joan (Ricker) Wright of Georgetown; sisters-in-law, Linda Danilecki and her husband, Robert of Georgetown, Debbie Sloban and her husband, Thomas of Amesbury, and Bonnie Silva and Glenn of Georgetown; brother-in-law, Raymond Wright of Boxford; and many nieces and nephews. Lori was predeceased by her father-in-law, Robert J. Wright.
