Haverhill — Nicholas Katsoulis, Sr., a longtime Haverhill resident and businessman, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital, Haverhill.
He was born in Lynn, on October 8, 1926, son of the late Costas and Afrodite Katsoulis. He was a 1950 graduate of Suffolk University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business, and later earned his Master’s Degree from Salem State College.
He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He was an avid boater and past commander of the U.S. Power Squadron of Newburyport, and a member of Saggahew Lodge, A.F. & A.M. He was the former owner of Anastos Travel, Haverhill, and he and his wife Irene spent many years traveling the world together.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Irene (Antonakis) Katsoulis of Haverhill; two sons, Nicholas Katsoulis, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer (Sciacca) Katsoulis of Sandown, N.H., Jason Katsoulis and his partner, Randy Brown of Florida; two grandchildren, Alexis and Nicholas who he so adored and were the light of his life; two sisters, Helen and her husband, Paul Meyer, Artemis Panacopoulos all of Florida; his beloved sister-in-law, Daphne Tikellis of Bradford; great-uncle, Sonny Fotos of Newburyport; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service on Saturday, January 26, at 11 a.m. at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Harris St., Newburyport. Interment in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill will be private. Calling hours will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. with a Masonic Service to be held at the H.L.
