Margaret "Peggy" (Moylan) Carter


Newburyport, MA — Margaret “Peggy” (Moylan) Carter, age 81, lifelong Newburyport resident, died Friday, November 2, 2012 at Country Manor Rehab & Nursing Center in Newburyport, with her loving family at her side.

Born in Newburyport, December 22, 1930, she was the daughter of the late James and Eleanor (Lunt) Moylan and attended Immaculate Conception grammar school and high school.

Margaret was a proud member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 307 since 1948 and served as a Deputy Grand Regent for Massachusetts. She was also a member of the Horton Terrace Tenants Council and a lifetime communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church.

Her love of the Moose and dedication to volunteering was surpassed only by her love for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Peggy is survived by her two sons, James H. Stone and wife Patricia of Salem, NH and William Carter and wife Diane (Dee) of Newburyport; her daughter, Laurinda Martel and husband Michael of Merrimac; her five grandchildren, Cassandra Viau, Allison Stone, Brian Stone, Brittany Martel, and Rebecca Martel; three great-grandchildren, Aubrielle Martel, Madeline Viau and Isabel Viau, along with two step grandchildren, Courtney Dealmeida, Jamie Dealmedia and three step-great-grandchildren, Jessica Brown, Jake Brown and Jaiden Dealmeida.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours at the Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, will be Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. at the Immaculate Conception Church, Green Street, Newburyport. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Peggy’s memory to Moose Charities, c/o Moose International, 155 South International Drive, Mooseheart, IL 60539.
