Jean (Schickling) Terruso, 85


Newburyport formerly of Topsfield — Jean (Schickling) Terruso, 85, died peacefully on April 19, 2013, at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport. She was born in Lynn, Mass., on July 1, 1927, to the late George and Dorothea (Eaton) Schickling. Raised and educated in Saugus, Mass., Jean was a graduate of Saugus High School.

She was employed by the Gillette Company in Boston for many years as a sales marketing manager, followed by her employment at NYNEX in Lynn working for the Yellow Pages Division until retiring in 1990. Jean would look forward to her Tuesday meetings with the ladies at the Village in Newburyport, she loved traveling to Las Vegas and Foxwoods and played Bingo whenever possible. She was an exceptional knitter and sewer making keepsake items for her family. She also wintered in West Palm, Fla., for 20 years with her beloved husband of 67 years, Nene "Sonny" Joseph Terruso, who died in August of 2012, and cherishing the friendships that they had made over the years there. Above all Jean was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will always be remembered as a totally selfless person.

Jean is survived by her children, Judith Lima, of Ft. Myers, Fla., Joseph N. Terruso, of Somersworth,N.H., Jean Marie McCarthy and her husband, Daniel, of Byfield, Mass.; devoted grandsons, Daniel and Michael McCarthy, of Byfield, Mass.; granddaughter, Sherry Serino and her husband, Anthony, of Bradford,Mass..; and Julie Mahoney of Chester, N.H.; several great grandchildren; sister in law Josephine M. Moran, of North Palm Beach, Fla., as well as niece and nephews Joseph, Cara, and James Moran. She will also be missed by Kenneth LaBonte. Jean is predeceased by her sisters, Pauline Fitiles, Georgiana Salsman, Lavinia O'Connell and Marilyn Weyland.

ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends may call on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Twomey LeBlanc & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St., Newburyport, MA, 01950. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, at noon, at St. Rose of Lima Parish in Topsfield, followed by burial at Pine Grove Cemetery also in Topsfield.
