PLAISTOW, N.H. — Mr. Thomas Kenneth Connelly, 85, of Plaistow, N.H. and Ft. Myers, Fla., formerly of Salem, beloved husband of 59 years to the late Shirley E. (Hunt) Connelly, passed away surrounded by his family, following a brief illness Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Leo E. and Margaret E. (Duggan) Connelly. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School. He continued his education graduating from Boston College and Salem State College.
An honorably discharged veteran, Ken served his country as a member of the United States Army Air corps during World War II achieving the rank of Sergeant.
Mr. Connelly had been employed as a manager for the General Electric Company at its West Lynn Facility until the time of his retirement. Ken and his wife were longtime residents of Salem, prior to spending twenty one of their retirement years together in Ft. Myers, Fla. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his beloved family. Ken, was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Ken is survived by his devoted four children, Catherine Connelly of Haverhill; Thomas Connelly and his wife Kristin of Amesbury; Elizabeth Knowles of Salem and David Connelly and his wife Marlene of Lynnfield; his 11 grandchildren, Kevin Salvo, Karen (Salvo) Nigrelli and her husband Tommy Nigrelli, Kristen and Kaitlin Salvo; Ryan and Rachel Connelly; Casey and Sarah Knowles and Matthew, Aidan and Joseph Connelly and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Anne Nardella of Salem.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from The O'Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Square, (at Salem Common), Salem, Friday at noon followed by his funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Salem at 12:30 p.m. Relatives and friends invited.
