Newburyport, MA — Christine (Dantos) Georges, 98, died on Monday, September 9, 2013, in Newburyport, Mass. The eldest of five siblings, she was born in Nashua, N.H., on June 18, 1915, and was the daughter of the late Vasillios “Bill” Dantos and Olga (Arvanitahe) Dantos. After her husband’s unexpected death in 1955, Christine moved to New York, where she lived for many years working a variety of jobs, including, until her retirement, for Lufthansa Airlines.
She retired in 1980, and moved back to Newburyport, where she was a longtime resident of Heritage House on Low Street.
An avid cook, she enjoyed gardening and babysitting during her retirement years. Friends and family were important to Christine, and they will long remember and miss her fiercely independent spirit.
Christine is predeceased by her sisters, Ourania (Dantos) Kyros and Nike Lillian Dantos; by her brothers, Peter, Nicholas and Constantine “Charlie” Dantos; her husband, Ellias C. Georges; and her daughter, Dorothea Georges Pliatska. She is survived by her grandson, Christos P. Pliatska of Omaha, Neb.; and by several nieces and nephews.
