Lynn — F. Elizabeth “Betty” (Beane) Tangney, 86, formerly of Lynn, died on Sunday in a local nursing home, after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Ralph Vernon Tangney. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of late John A. and Gladys (Emery) Beane. She had lived in Lynn for the greater part of her life.
Betty worked as a legal secretary for the former Hill and Barlow law firm in Boston for many years, until her retirement in 1992. She was a trustee of St. Paul’s Church and Christ Church in Lynn. She enjoyed music and was a soloist for her church choirs. She was also a member of the Newburyport Choral Society for 10 years.
She is survived by two children, Bob Tangney of Fremont, N.H., and Carole Sheehy of Woodbridge, Va.; six grandchildren, Kelley, Ryan, Brian, Chris, Brendan, and Connor; and five great-grandchildren, Shannon, Kevin, Corbin, A.J., and Brady. She was the mother of the late Patricia Bell, and sister of the late Donald Beane.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held on Thursday, at 11 a.m., in the Solimine, Landergan and Richardson Funeral Home, 426 Broadway, Route 129, Lynn. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
