Amesbury, MA — Antonio J. Chasse, 98, joined his beloved wife eternally as he passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning at the Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport. Born in Biddeford, Maine, he was the son of the late Charles and Clara (Lepage) Chasse. He was the husband of the late Helen (Pike) Chasse, who passed away in 1998.
He had been employed many years as a machinist in the shoe industry, working in sales and service in the New England region for the Louis G. Freeman Co. of Ohio. He had served in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, but was called in for active duty during WWII. He was a longtime member of Holy Family Parish and was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was the eldest member of the North End Boat Club and enjoyed boating and the sea.
He is survived by four sons, Michael Chasse of Springvale, Maine, Antonio Chasse Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, of Bradford, Mass., and Charles Chasse and his wife, Corinne, and John Chasse, all of Amesbury; two daughters, Carol Lariviere and husband, Joseph, of Florida, and Frances Blanock and husband, Alex, of Oregon; and many grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 10, at 10 a.m., in the Holy Family Parish Church, 2 School Street, Amesbury. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home 118 Friend Street, Amesbury, are on Wednesday, October 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
