Lorraine (Jarvis) Dewar

West Newbury, MA — Lorraine (Jarvis) Dewar, age 71, longtime resident of West Newbury, died unexpectedly October 11, 2013, in Shanghai, China, as she was preparing to enjoy a most wondrous trip. She was the beloved wife of Roderick F. Dewar.

Born in Chelsea, April 12, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Donovan) Jarvis.

For many years, Lorraine had worked as a home health aide for various agencies in the area.

In addition to her beloved husband of 44 years, Roderick F. Dewar, she is survived by her son, Roderick F. Dewar, Jr. and wife, Tracy; her daughter, Tara Hanson and husband, Charles; her four adoring grandchildren, Cameron, Rhyas and Dashal Dewar and Leah Hanson; her brother, Raymond Jarvis and wife Katie; her sister-in-law, Marguerite Jarvis; and many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, will be Friday, October 25, 2013, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A Graveside Service for family and friends will be held Saturday, October 26, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery, 302 Elm Street, Everett. Donations in her memory may be made to Ruth's House, Inc., 111 Lafayette Street, Haverhill, MA 01832.
