Canton, CT — Mrs. Mary K. (Fogarty) Gronbeck, 88, of Canton, Conn., died Tuesday in a local nursing home after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Raymond Gronbeck.
Mary was born in Rochester, N.Y., daughter of the late Frank and Marion (Grant) Fogarty. She was a resident of Canton, Conn., for the past 2 years and previously resided in Simsbury, Conn., Stratham, N.H., and most of her life in Lynn. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Class of 1943 and went on to Pierce Secretarial School in Boston.
She worked as a Senior Clerk Stenographer for the Lynn School Department for 17 years until her retirement.
Mary is survived by her two sons, Edward T. Gronbeck and his wife, Diane, of Newburyport and James W. Gronbeck and Robin Gronbeck of Simsbury, Conn.; her two brothers, Thomas E. Fogarty of Lynn and William J. Fogarty of Melrose; her three cherished grandchildren, Katherine Kreyling, Susan Gronbeck and Christian Gronbeck; and 1 great-grandson, Timothy Raymond Kreyling. Mary is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Mary’s Funeral will be from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, West Lynn at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a gift can be made in her memory to the Sisson Elementary School, 58 Conomo Ave., Lynn, MA 01904, c/o the principal.
