Salisbury — Carolyn L. Sargent, 86, of Salisbury, died on Thursday, November 7, 2013, at Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill.

She was born in Amesbury, on May 24, 1927, and was the daughter of the late William and Ellen (Rose) Anderson.

She was employed as a food server at Governor Dummer Academy in Byfield for over 20 years.

Carolyn was a longtime resident of Salisbury and served as the town historian. She was a member of the Salisbury Historical Commission and authored a book on the history of the town. She was a former Cub Scout den mother and was a member and board member of the East Parish United Methodist Church.

She was the wife of the late Robert P. Sargent, who predeceased her in 1987; and by her brother, William Anderson.

Family members include her son, Gordon J. Sargent and his wife, Terry, of Salisbury; four grandchildren, Katie Sanborn, Meghan, Lauren and Angela Sargent; two brothers, Lawrence Anderson of Seabrook, and Leonard Anderson of Powalup, Wash.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Tuesday, November 12, in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Services will immediately follow at 1 p.m., in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Long Hill Cemetery, Salisbury. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
