Dover, N.H. — Claire Chamberland, age 74, of Dover passed away on October 9 at Riverside Rest Home. She was the wife of Donald Chamberland and daughter of the late Blanche (Poirier) and Wilfred Noel. Claire was an excellent student at Presentation of Mary Seminary in Hudson, Somersworth High School and McIntosh College in Dover, N.H. At McIntosh, she was known as T-N-T; Tiny- Neat-Treasurer. On September 28, 1963, Claire and Don wed. As a young woman, Claire helped her parents at Noel’s Inn Boarding House in Somersworth, N.H. She worked at PSNH and was a secretary at Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard until she and Don started their family. Claire loved music and played the piano beautifully. She also sang in her school choir and was a drum majorette in her high school band.
She leaves her devoted husband of 49 years, Donald Chamberland, her daughter, Diana (Dee) Cote of Amesbury, and her son, Marc Chamberland of Dover. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Nathan and Benjamin Cote and Richard and Alyssa Chamberland. We would like to thank the staff, nurses, nurses' aides and activities personnel at Riverside for the excellent care and attention given to Claire. We pray that Claire has finally found the peace of mind she wished for throughout her life.
