Newbury, MA — Francis W. Webb, age 79, longtime Newbury resident, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, August 21, 2013, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill with his loving family by his side.
Born in Newburyport, September 22, 1933, he was the son of the late Ralph A. and Florence (Perkins) Webb.
He was a volunteer Fireman for fifty-five years and a member of the Protection Fire Company No. 2 of Newbury.
He loved the outdoors and had planted 2,500 spruce seedlings 50 years ago, which he continued to care for throughout his life. After the age of 55, Mr. Webb climbed all of the forty-eight 4,000 footers in New Hampshire.
He volunteered with the Meals On Wheels program in Newburyport for the past several years, delivering meals five days a week, every week.
He was dedicated to his family, to his work and to his community, lived life to the fullest, and was thankful for all the wonderful times he shared with his family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife of 52 years, Martha W. (Lee) Webb, he is survived by his son, Kenneth Webb and wife, DeeDee, of Boulder City, Nev.; his daughter, Beatrice Webb of Newbury and his two grandchildren, Tyler and Dianne. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Barbara.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be held Friday, August 30, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Newbury Fire Station, 3 Morgan Ave., Newbury, followed by interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Newbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Protection Fire Company No. 2, 3 Morgan Ave., Newbury, MA 01951. Arrangements are by Elliott, Woolworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green St., Newburyport.
