Amesbury, MA — Joan ((Bruneau) Beland, age 80, of Newburyport, formerly of Amesbury and Lawrence, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at the Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover. She was the wife of the late Robert H. Beland.
Born in Lawrence, February 12, 1933, she was the daughter of the late George and Jane (Gaffney) Bruneau and was a graduate of Lawrence High School.
Joan sang in the St. Joseph Church choir of the Holy Family Parish in Amesbury for years. She loved traveling and sharing her many wonderful memories of places like Ireland and Las Vegas.
Her home and her gardens were her haven, and as a gracious hostess, thoroughly enjoyed visits from family and friends. For the past year and a half that Joan was at Atria Merrimack Place in Newburyport, she was very happy, making many new friends and going out to eat with her good friend, Joan Hardy.
Her survivors include her two sons, Ralph J. Beland and wife, Young of Crestview, Fla., and Robert J. Beland and wife, Gina of Billerica; her daughter-in-law, Barbara Little of Punta Gorda, Fla.; two grandsons, Jason Beland of Amesbury and Robin Beland of Crestview, Fla.; and two great-grandsons, Jacob and Quinn Beland of Newton, N.H. She was predeceased by her brother, George N. Bruneau, who died April 14, 2010.
ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial Mass will be held Thursday, May 2, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church of the Holy Family Parish, 2 School St., Amesbury. By request of the family, there will be no visiting hours and interment will be private. Arrangements are by Paul C. Rogers & Sons Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Ave., Amesbury.
