Plymouth, MA — Alfred L. Duchemin, age 63, passed away at his home in Plymouth Friday evening, May 10, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer
Born in Haverhill, April 16, 1950, he was the son of the late Henry J. and Victoria A. (St. Germain) Duchemin and was a graduate of Haverhill Trade School and Franklin Institute of Boston. He worked 43 years for the Gillette Company in Boston, where he retired as a Senior Engineer.
For 25 years, he lived in West Newbury, where he coached the Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball teams for eight years. He also lived in Bridgewater and most recently moved to Plymouth.
Alfred loved life and enjoyed the outdoors. You could always find him tinkering with engines, doing gardening and landscaping, or enjoying woodworking.
His survivors include his wife, Ingrid (Zemlin) Duchemin of Plymouth; former wife, Margaret J. Duchemin of West Newbury; son, Brian L. Duchemin and wife, Sarah, and their children, Luke and Sienna of West Newbury; daughter, Sarah L. Singer, and her children, Madisyn and Mason Singer and Alexi Mullen all of Fryeburg, Maine, and Benjamin Mullen of Salisbury; two brothers, Henry J. Duchemin, Jr. and wife, Eleanor, of Buford, Ga., and Albert H. Duchemin and wife, Judy, of Haverhill; two sisters, Mary J. Martin and husband, Joseph R., of Haverhill and Jacqueline A. Johnston and husband, Paul P., of West Newbury; along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, will be Tuesday, May 14, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at 10 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church, 300 Main Street, West Newbury. Interment will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02215 to support the research in head and neck oncology.
