Newburyport — Marilyn (Stantz) Allison, formerly of Canton, Ohio, passed away on September 15 at Kindred Brigham Health Care Center in Newburyport in the presence of her son. Marilyn was born in Canton, Ohio, the daughter of Walter and Helen (Fishering) Stantz. She is survived by her loving children, Kay (Allison) Hahner and husband Richard Hahner of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Robert Allison and his wife Nancy Sullivan of Newburyport. She is also survived by granddaughter, Geneve M. Allison of Melrose and husband Michael Murphy; two great-grandsons, Daniel and Benjamin Murphy, as well as nieces Pamela (Bennett) Rochford, Christine (Bennett) Deegan, Marcia (Bennett) Crumley and Brenda (Bennett) Blumling and nephew Bruce Bennett. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert E. Allison, DC and sister Geraldine Bennett, both of Canton.
Marilyn was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Canton, where she majored in commercial studies. She was an active member of the local parent-teacher association, a Girl Scout troop leader and member of the Canton Junior Women's Club, serving as president from 1955-56. She loved music, fine arts, swimming, skating, and gardening. Her sense of humor and ready smile contributed to community life at Brigham Manor during her long residency there.
ARRANGEMENTS: There will be no public services in Newburyport. A private memorial reception will be held for family and staff at Brigham Manor. Interment of cremains will take place in Canton, Ohio, where another memorial reception for family is planned.
