Mary E. Lipman, 52

Ipswich — Mary E. Lipman, 52, of Ipswich Massachusetts, passed away Saturday, December 15th. She was born in New York City, the daughter of the late Jack Barry. Surviving are her mother Eileen Crowley-Barry, and beloved step-mother Jean, all of New Jersey. She grew up in South Orange and New Vernon, New Jersey, surrounded by five brothers and four step-siblings. She cherished her summer vacations spent on Long Beach Island on the Jersey Shore throughout the years. A 1983 graduate of New England College, she spent many years employed by Brown Wright & Company, and most recently as the Customer Service Manager of Schylling Toys, Rowley, Mass.

Mary was inspired by people who were life-long learners, such as herself. She was involved with many creative projects in rug hooking, watercolors, knitting, quilting, writing, photography, and archiving. She loved the outdoors, and was an avid hiker, runner, body-surfer, and cross-country skier. She was also an integral part of the Newburyport Master Swimmers. She had a fondness for birds, especially crows and ravens. Mary never missed an opportunity to help others. She volunteered extensively throughout her lifetime, as well as being devoted to her father at the end of his life. She touched everyone with the gift of her time on earth, her unfaltering optimism and talent.

She is survived by her two children, Ali (Cooper) and Ben Lipman, her grandson Phineas Knights, her mother Eileen Crowley-Barry, her stepmother Jean Barry, her siblings, Tim of San Francisco, CA, John (Jill) of Morristown, NJ, Joe of Boulder, CO, Dan (Melissa) of Chapel Hill, NC, Kevin (Karen) of Richmond, VA, Kevin Cain of Far Hills, NJ, Margaret Hynes of Bernardsville, NJ, Teresa (Scott) Sedgwick of Reno, NV, sister-in-law Amy Cain of Peapack, NJ, and her many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her step-brother Peter Cain . She is also survived by countless beloved and cherished friends.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held on Friday December 21st at 11 A.M. in the Morris Funeral Home, 45 North Main Street, Ipswich. Burial will be private. Visiting hours will be Thursday December 20th, from 6 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
