West Newbury, MA — Edrie M. (Verombeck) Marchand, age 74, longtime West Newbury resident, died peacefully, Wednesday afternoon, September 26, 2012 at home in West Newbury with her loving family by her side.
One of eight children of the late Steven and Shirley (Parker) Verombeck Haas, she was born in Haverhill on June 20, 1938 and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1956.
Edrie was a full time homemaker, dedicated to her family and their needs. After her children were through school, she worked at Knapp Florist in West Newbury and also at H & R Block in Newburyport.
She was a member of the Emergency Squaws of West Newbury and belonged to the Pentucket High School Football Boosters Club where she received the Red Otis Award for her support through the years in the Football Boosters. She also started a Wrestling Boosters Club and for many years bowled at the Pilgrim Lanes in Haverhill.
In addition to her devoted husband of 53 years, Richard N. Marchand, Sr., she is survived by her two children, Elizabeth Noyes and fiance James Harvey of West Newbury and Richard N. Marchand Jr. and companion Liz Malonson of Merrimac; her grandchildren, Alexa Marchand and Sean Noyes of Pepperell, who were the apple of her eyes; grandchildren, Mary, Bonnie , Michelle and Priscilla Vincent all of Texas; and Maegan (Vondal) Koelker of New Market, NH; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sandra Millett and Wendy Provencher both of Maine, along with several generations of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. She was predeceased by a daughter, Suzanne Vondal; a son, George Vincent; a sister and four brothers, Carole Saklad, Clifford, Stanley, Leonard and Roger Haas.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours at the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers & Sons Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, will be Sunday, September 30, 2012 from 2 to 4 P.M. Funeral services and interment will be private for the family. Kindly omit flowers, instead donations in her memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
