Newburyport — Sarah M. Gilfus passed away on Friday morning, September 28, at Tuft’s Medical Center in Boston, following a lengthy illness.
Sarah was the beloved daughter of Raymond L. and Maria F. Gilfus of Newburyport and was born in Newburyport on November 5, 1985.
Sarah had attended various local schools in the area during her middle school years and has always been fortunate to have the most wonderful staff working with her and always has made many friends. Sarah had a radiant smile that would light up the room and she enjoyed being in the company of others.
Sarah has spent the last 11 years residing at New England Pediatric Care in Billerica, where she received the most excellent care from the most loving and caring staff, which we refer to as our “second family”.
Sarah leaves behind her parents, Raymond and Maria Gilfus; her brother, Tyler Gilfus; her grandmother, Lena Hayes; her Uncle Russell Gilfus, Uncle Dennis Gilfus, Aunt Candy Morse, Aunt and Uncle Clifton and Sandra Perkins, Uncle Barry Hayes, and several cousins. She was predeceased by her grandparents Leroy and Marilyn Gilfus and grandfather Leo Hayes
Sarah’s family feels extremely blessed for the wonderful people involved with Sarah’s care and would like to thank New England Pediatric Care for their devotion and TLC over the years, Tufts Medical Center MICU staff for their excellent care over the years and their support, comfort and guidance in the past few weeks. The staff at Spaulding Rehab in Salem, for their excellent care and TLC, and to her Uncle Russell Gilfus for his overwhelming support and visitations with Sarah.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to calling hours Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the Twomey, LeBlanc and Conte Funeral Home, 193 High Street, Newburyport.
