Philip D. Derrico, 76


Newburyport — Philip D. Derrico, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away Sunday, September 30, after a brief battle with cancer.

Phil was born in the Bronx, N.Y. on May 16, 1936 and grew up and went to school there until he went into the Air Force. He was stationed at Pease Air Force base in Portsmouth, N.H., where he met his wife Doris, a Newburyport native, whom he married in August of 1958. He worked at Owens Illinois for over 30 years and made many friends there. He was an active member of the Newburyport community and a New York Giants fan for life; but nothing made him happier than spending time with his family.

He is survived by his sisters, Barbara Derrico and Lorraine Carriocetti; three children, Ann (Derrico) Trajlinek and her husband Paul of Sandown, N.H., Michael and his wife JaNae of Newburyport and Philip of Plaistow, N.H.; seven grandchildren, Rhiannon (Trajlinek) McHugh and Anthony Trajlinek, Brian and Darren Derrico, and Alessandra, Jennifer and Gianna Derrico; many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. He is predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Doris Derrico.

ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be Thursday , October 4 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Twomey-LeBlanc and Conte Funeral Home, 193 High Street, Newburyport. His Funeral Mass will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church, Green Street, Newburyport on Friday, October 5 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Newburyport.
