Brewster, MA — Irving Bloom, 86, of Brewster, Mass., died at his home on April 18, 2014, after a long illness. He was the husband of Elaine Glenda (Kaplan) Bloom. Born in1927, he graduated Everett High School and Purdue University.
In 1968, with Glenda, they founded Sew Right Fabrics, and operated retail stores in Malden, Mass., Newburyport, Mass., and Sanford, Maine, until 1994. He raised his family in Swampscott, Mass., from 1954 to 1979, and had resided in Hampton Falls, N.H., from 1979 to 1994. He retired with Glenda to Brewster, Mass., and West Palm Beach, Fla. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Kenneth W. Bloom and wife, Phyllis, of Acton, Mass., and Laurence P. Bloom of Newburyport; daughter, Diane R. Bloom of Port Townsend, Wash.; and grandson, Daniel Bloom.
ARRANGEMENTS: A graveside service will be held at Temple Emanuel Cemetery, 202 Mt. Vernon St., Lawrence, Mass., at 10 a.m., on Tuesday, April 22. Visitation at 11 Wilson Lane, Acton, Mass., on Tuesday, following the service, until 9 p.m., and Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
