West Newbury, MA — Dorothy G. (Whitcomb) Thurlow, longtime West Newbury resident, passed to Spirit February 5, 2014, after a long and courageous battle at Kindred Health Care Center in Peabody.
She was born in Lynn, one of eight children of the late Frank and Maude (Lamb) Whitcomb and grew up in the town of Peabody.
Dorothy, retired from a fulfilling career as a corporate executive for Chrysler, was active in her church, the First Salem Church of Spiritualism, enjoyed music, cooking and was an avid reader.
Dorothy found the greatest joy in her life was her husband of 43 years, Richard C. Thurlow and her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three sons, Marcell J. Routhier and wife, Christine, of West Newbury, Donald J. Routhier and wife, Deborah, of Amesbury, and David J. Routhier and wife, Rebecca, of Haverhill; her grandchildren, Jeremiah A. Routhier of Haverhill, Jessie Small and husband, Jon, of South Hampton, NH, Steven, Portia and Kayla Routhier of Bingham, ME and Jamie and Melissa Laveson; along with her four great-grandchildren. Dorothy will also be greatly missed by her numerous nieces and nephews and her surviving sisters, Sandy McDonald and Arlene Luz and all the people whose lives this wonderful woman touched.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours at the Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, will be Monday, February 10, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Spiritualist Church of Salem, 34 Warren Street, Salem, MA, at a future date. Donations in her memory may be made to the Walnut Hill Cemetery Association, 169 Bachelor Street, West Newbury, MA 01985.
