Ernest A. “Snip” Palmer, 95, of Rowley and formerly of Groveland passed away early Saturday morning, March 10, 2012 at his home. He was the husband of the late Florence L. “Flossie” (Blake) Palmer who passed away in 2006.
Ernie was born October 11, 1916 in Bradford, son of the late John A. and Annie (Smallwood) Palmer.
Mr. Palmer was a veteran of WWII having served as a Chief in the U.S. Navy. For over 34 years he was a milkman, delivering milk from the Clover Leaf Dairy in Haverhill; he also worked as a custodian for Pentucket Regional High School and for the Plaistow Cooperative Bank. He also was a Union carpenter building homes on Plum Island. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps having worked with them in Western Massachusetts and in Oregon.
Ernie was a member of the Saggahew Masonic Lodge AF&AM of Haverhill. He enjoyed the game of golf and played often at the Carriage Pines Golf Course in Rowley.
He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Shand “Sandy” S. Palmer and his fiancee Susan Duquette of Groveland and Plum Island and Darren E. and his wife Barbara Palmer of Salt Lake City, Utah, also two grandchildren, Jamison Palmer and Stephanie Palmer and several nieces and nephews. He leaves his dear friend of over 70 years, Marion Roberts of Rowley and Madelyn Sullivan. He also leaves his extended “adopted” family, Sharon Emery and her family of Rowley and David & Gidget Roberts and their family of Rowley. He was pre-deceased by his beloved daughter Kimberly Palmer.
ARRANGEMENTS: Memorial services will be held Thursday, March 15th at 1:00 PM in the F.S. Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 14 Independent Street, Rowley. A period of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 14th 4-7PM. and a Masonic Service will be conducted at 6PM during the visitation hours. Burial will be in the Main Street Cemetery, Rowley. Donations may be made to the
