William R. Wilson, 82


Methuen, MA — William R. Wilson, 82, of Methuen, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 17, at Academy Manor Nursing Home, Andover, Mass.

William was born in Newburyport, Mass., March 2, 1931, to the late William and Gertrude Wilson. He received his undergraduate degree in social sciences at Merrimack College, and later went on to earn his masters in community organization from Boston College. William was a PhD candidate at Brandeis University, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

William worked a variety of jobs throughout his lifetime, and retired from the Department of Health Education and Welfare (H.E.W) as a Director of Regional Programs in 1994.

William is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Patricia A. (Fay) Wilson, his four children; Elizabeth A. Frasca and her husband, David, of Potomac Falls, Va., James J. Wilson and his fiancé, Gina Barrett, of Amesbury, Mass., Ellen Weinhold and her husband, Michael of Methuen, Mass., and William A. Wilson and his wife, Cheri, of Danville, N.H., daughter-in-law Michelle Wilson, of Amesbury, Mass., his sister Jean and her husband, Joseph Donnelly, of Newburyport, Mass., brothers, Robert Wilson and his wife Barbara of Annapolis, MD, Edmund Wilson and his wife Jean of Evanston, IL, and Donald Wilson and his wife, Nancy, of Salt Lake City, Utah, as well as 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. William is predeceased by his sister-in-law Jacqueline Wilson.

The Wilson family would also like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at Academy Manor Nursing Home for all their care and support.

ARRANGEMENTS: Friends and relatives are invited to call on Sunday, April 21, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA. Funeral services will be held the following day, Monday, April 22, at 10 a.m. in St. Lucy’s Church, 254 Merrimack St., Methuen.
