James J. Politis


Hamilton — James J. Politis, husband of Nancy K. (Andrews) Politis, passed away Thursday evening November 15, 2012, in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by his loving family after an illness of several months. Born in Athens, Greece, he was the son of the late John J. and Eufthemia (Mpartsotas) Politis.

He served in the Greek Navy before he immigrated to the United States. Mr. Politis was a hairdresser. He owned and operated the James House of Beauty serving many families in the Ipswich community for over 30 years. His interests included his vegetable garden and his many trips to Greece. Mr. Politis’ loves of his life were his family, his friends and the Greek Orthodox Church. He was an active member of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church of Ipswich serving on its Board. Mr. Politis will be most remembered for his generosity and carefree spirit as well as his big heart.

Mr. Politis is survived by, in addition to his wife Nancy of Hamilton, his 3 children and their spouses, John J. and Barbara Politis of North Kingstown, RI, Mia J. and Jonathan Bain of Cumberland, RI, Edward J. and Marisa Politis of Astoria, NY, his 3 grandchildren James J. Politis of Topsfield, Michael J. Politis of North Kingstown, RI, and Natalie N. Bain of Cumberland, RI. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Steven J. and Jane Politis of Georgetown, his sister and brother-in-law, Katie and George Kourakos of Athens, Greece, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Politis is also survived by his father and mother-in-law Edward and Dolores Andrews of Hamilton.

ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 20th, at 10 A.M. in the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church 8 Lafayette Road, Ipswich. Burial will be in the Hamilton Cemetery, 628 Bay Road, Hamilton. Visiting hours will be Monday, November 19th, from 5 to 8 P.M., in the Morris Funeral Home, 45 North Main Street, Ipswich.
