Seabrook, NH — John George Abenante, Jr., 69, of Plum Island, MA and Seabrook, NH, died April 9, 2014, of appendiceal cancer
at the Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers, MA. He was born November 30, 1944, in Medford, MA, to the late John G. Abenante, Sr. and Mary (Contiguglia) Abenante. John served with the United States Army reserve. He was a Systems Analyst for Digital Equipment Corporation for 20 years and then, in an entrepreneurial venture, opened Newburyport Tall Chips Cookie Store. He served on Newburyport's Liquor Commission and was an active member of the Republican party. His love of history motivated him to again change career directions, and he received a Masters Degree in history from Salem State University, certified, and taught history at Triton Regional High School, retiring in 2008. Most important in his life were his wife and children and he leaves a legacy of a strong and loving family. John is survived by his wife of 32 years, Roxan (Rogers) Abenante of Seabrook, NH; son, Michael Abenante and his wife, Yvonne (Adams); daughter, Julie and her husband, Tyler Rockwell; son, Christopher Abenante and his wife, Danielle (Colangelo); son, Patrick Abenante and his sweetheart, Kerry (Siebert); daughter, Lesley and her husband, David Galicki. He also leaves behind his sister, Elaine (Abenante) and her husband, Frank Amara; grandchildren, Lucie and Peter Abenante, Zoe and Phoebe Rockwell, and “Baby” Abenante, soon to arrive.
