Fremont, NH — Phyllis Irene (Hamm) Ryan, 78, of Fremont, N.H., died April 9, 2014, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Mass. Phyllis was born in Lowell, Mass., on June 22, 1935, to the late Charles and Vivian (O'Malley) Hamm. Phyllis was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Haverhill and the Brentwood Baptist Church in Brentwood, N.H. She was an alumni of Northern Essex Community College and worked for AT&T in North Andover for 25 years. She worked as a nurse in the infirmary at Philips Academy, Exeter, N.H. Phyllis had a love for being outdoors and on the water. She was an avid swimmer, boater, and water skier and with her husband and family, Phyllis loved to camp as well as travel across the country and internationally.
She was predeceased by her husband, Donald J. Ryan, and is survived by her children, Kathleen Latawiec and husband, Leonard of Newburyport, David Ryan and wife, Cindy of Berwick, Maine, and Thomas Ryan and wife, Tressa of Brentwood, N.H. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer Schaaff and husband, Fred, Jasmine, Brianne, Noah and Jonah Ryan; and a great-grandson, Freddy Schaaff IV; as well as a sister, Shirley Wiggins of Gorham, Maine, and a brother, Maurice Adams and wife, Goldie of Ontario, Canada; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Stanley Woods.
