Salisbury — Sarah E. (Messina) Macarione, formerly of Lawrence and Salisbury passed away peacefully on April 13, 2014 at Country Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Newburyport, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Lawrence and was the daughter of the late Vincent and Vicenzina (Valvo) Messina and the widow of Rosario (Mac) Macarione.
Sarah was educated in Lawrence Schools. In her early years she worked at Grieco Brother as a seamstress but later was a stay-at-home mom raising her children. She was a fabulous seamstress and cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Sarah loved to shop and loved finding a bargain. She had many friends and was known as a very caring and loving person to everyone with whom she came in contact with.
Sarah is survived by her two daughters, Kathryn Aletto and her husband, Cosmo of Salem, N.H., and Virginia Macarione of Salisbury; two grandchildren, Mary-Jo Cameron and her husband, Chris and Nancy Aletto, and two great-grandchildren, Kira and Shane Cameron; a sister, Anne Calderone of Methuen; two sisters-in-law, Connie Maccarone of Salisbury and Connie Giarrusso of North Andover; and several nieces and nephews and cousins and many very special friends. Sarah was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Messina.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours on Monday, April 21, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Tuesday, April 22 at 10:30 a.m. in Star of The Sea Church, 18 Beach Road, Salisbury, Mass. Interment will follow at Long Hill Cemetery, Salisbury.
