Newbury, MA & Miami, FL — Cynthia W. Brown, 64, of Newbury, Mass., and Miami, Fla., passed away at home from brain cancer on April 28, 2014, with her husband at her side.
She was the wife of David H. Brown, and the mother of Kevin Crowley and Katherine Brown. Cynthia was born in Lima, Peru, on December 19, 1949, and was the daughter of Norma (Cougill) and Thomas F. Walcutt, and spent her childhood years in Miami. She obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Pratt Institute in New York, and spent years in the creative fields. She was blessed with world travel throughout her life.
Cynthia was involved in many local organizations including the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center, Newburyport Maritime Society, Historical Society of Old Newbury, and Newburyport Art Association. She also drove for Northern Essex Elder Transport, and volunteered at The Newbury Council on Aging and the Newbury Cultural Council. Cynthia's best club memories stem from her years in the Newbury Garden Club. and her dear friends made there. Besides art, travel and gardening, Cynthia loved to cook and entertain, she loved boating on the Parker River, and her golden retrievers.
In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by her daughter-in-law, Dee Brown Crowley; and granddaughter, Lydia of Newbury; sister, Susan Walcutt; and brother, Capt. Tim Walcutt and his wife, Dr. Pam Moran Walcutt of Miami, and their children Connor, Spencer and Jane.
ARRANGEMENTS: There will be no calling hours and services will be private. Cynthia wishes all her friends just remember something fun and wonderful they experienced together.
Her husband invites family, friends and neighbors to gather at her home on Friday, May 2, early in the evening to informally celebrate her life.
