Shirley Thivierge, 86

Kensington, N.H. — Shirley B. Thivierge, 86, died January 1, 2013 in Brunswick, Maine, after a period of declining health. She was born September 8, 1926 in Amesbury, daughter of the late Harry H. and Alice S. (Sibley) Bates.

Shirley grew up in Amesbury and was a graduate of Amesbury High School, class of 1943. She worked in banking for most of her working life, initially at Powow River National Bank in Amesbury and later at First & Ocean National Bank in Newburyport. Shirley also worked as a secretary for Hatter’s Union in Amesbury for several years.

She was very active in numerous organizations. As a proud descendant of Richard Warren on the Mayflower. Shirley became a member of the N.H. Mayflower Society, she was a member of DAR, the Exeter Women’s Club, Exeter Hospital Volunteers, a devoted member of Christ Episcopal Church in Exeter, the Christ Church Altar Guild, and was a lay reader at the Church.

Shirley was the widow of Raymond J. Thivierge, who died July 28, 1997. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ralph L and Donna M. Thivierge of Topsham, Maine; two granddaughters, T. Catherine Mignone of Kensington, N.H. and Kirstin L. Kibbe of Somersworth, N.H.; a great-grandson, Keagan Mignone of Kensington, N.H.; a sister, Jeane Meserve of South Hampton, N.H.; a niece, Sheryl Hunt of Seabrook, N.H.; and a nephew, Kevin Meserve of West Newbury.

ARRANGEMENTS: There are no calling hours. A private graveside service will be held at the Union Cemetery in Amesbury. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church in Exeter, N.H.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Midcoast Senior Health Center, 58 Baribeau Dr., Brunswick, ME. 04011 or the NH Mayflower Society, 31 Logging Hill Rd., Bow, NH 03304.

She was predeceased by her twin brother, Palmer Southworth Willard, her youngest brother William Leslie Willard and her older brother, John Bleveny Willard.

Sonya leaves behind aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, and many friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Judythe Eaton of Ft. Pierce; his son, John G. Buzzell Sr. of Merrimac, Mass.; two sisters, Adrienne Beaulieu and Helena Worthen, both of Amesbury, Mass.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lorenzo and Wilfred Gagne, and one sister, Therese Garneau.

Stanley always said Joan was like his American Express card ...you don't leave home without her. Stanley was born in Newburyport, Mass., son of Lorraine Barbara (Mowrey) Sadowski and Henry T. Sadowski. He leaves behind his three sisters, Sharon and husband, Danie,l Babbin, and Cathy Burnham of Exeter, N.H., and Lynne and husband, Dick Pray, of Barrington, N.H. A brother Thomas and wife Lynda Sadowski of Newburyport, Mass. Stanley was predeceased by his parents and brother, Dean. Stanley also leaves behind his three brothers-in-law, John Rogowski of Hardwick, Mass., Richard and wife, Dottie, Rogowski of Three Rivers, Mass., and Fred Rogowski of Ware, Mass. Stanley was also predeceased by his in-laws, Felix Fred and Monica B. (Skura) Rogowski of Ware. Stanley also leaves behind many nephews; a niece; triplets; two great-nephews; and a great-niece. Stanley attended Newburyport schools, and entered the U.S. Air Force, where he proudly served his country for eight years as a law enforcement specialist serving in the Vietnam War, and being exposed to Agent Orange.
