Salisbury — Ernest "Ernie" Drew passed away on February 10, 2013, following a period of failing health. Ernie was born on May 18, 1942 in Ipswich, to the late Ernest and Ruth (Wilkins). He was raised in Rowley and graduated from Newburyport High School. Ernie was a great cook, having been employed at Lakeside Restaurant in Kingston, N.H. for many years.
During his spare time, you would see Ernie spending time with family and friends including his "girl friends" at CVS in Seabrook as well as friends at The Trinity Church. Ernie had a special passion for and knowledge of flowers. He also enjoyed word puzzles, cooking, and he had a deep love for animals. He was an adoring, spontaneous and mischievous uncle who was always joking and making people laugh.
In addition to his parents, Ernie was predeceased by his two brothers, Charles Drew, Melvin Drew; his sisters, Bertha Annon and Betty Carr; and his beloved dog and friend, Rocky.
His surviving family includes his two sisters, Eleanor Bashaw-Fowler of Salisbury, and Mildred Drew of Bellingham; his sisters-in-law, Judy Drew, and Wilhemina "Billie" Drew. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins.
ARRANGEMENTS: According to Ernie's wishes, there are no public calling hours or services. Because of Ernie's passion for flowers, there will be a memorial celebration of his life in the spring.
The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank-you to Denise. If you so desire, the family suggests that you plant or give a flower in Ernie's memory.
