Amesbury, MA — Dalia (Sousa) DiGennaro, age 95, of Amesbury, formerly of Lowell, died peacefully Tuesday morning at Maplewood Care & Rehabilitation Center in Amesbury, surrounded by the family she loved so very much. She was the beloved wife of the late Mawr M. DiGennaro.
Born in Lowell, March 18, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Ignacio and Mary (Piedade) Sousa and was a graduate of Lowell High School.
Mrs. DiGennaro loved her family and everything she did throughout her life reflected that love. She was a devoted wife and a wonderful, caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend to many. The love she gave will be deeply missed by her family. Everyone she encountered could sense her pure heart and sweet spirit. She always had a smile, never complained and was grateful for all that she had.
She is survived by her two sons, Conrad M. DiGennaro and wife, Phyllis, of Seabrook, N.H., and John DiGennaro and wife, Dolores, of Amesbury; her daughter, Joanne M. Reyes of Amesbury; her four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, Matthew DiGennaro, John Mark DiGennaro, Jennifer DiGennaro and Sara Reyes; and Isabella and Joseph DiGennaro; two brothers, Joseph and Walter Sousa; three sisters, Mary Millen, Catherine Underwood and Amelia Hynes; along with several generations of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother and a sister, John Sousa and Dolores Kronberg.
The family would like to thank the staff at Maplewood for their exceptional care. Dalia truly felt safe, secure and very much at home there.
ARRANGEMENTS: A graveside service for relatives and friends will be held Monday, July 22, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Edson Cemetery, 1375 Gorham St., Lowell. By request of the family, there will be no visiting hours. Arrangements are by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Ave., Amesbury.
