Mieczyslawa C. Cauley, 87, formerly of Woods Hole, passed away peacefully on Jan. 29, 2012 at Amesbury Village with her family at her side. She was born in New Bedford, Ma. on August 20, 1924, daughter of the late John and Julia (Scavinski) Cygan. She was the wife of the late John E. Cauley who passed away in 1998.
She grew up and attended schools in New Bedford, furthering her education by attending Boston University. She had worked many years on the Cape as a bookeeper-office manager for W.T. Grants. She was a veteran of WW-II serving in the U.S. Navy. She was active in her Woods Hole community, volunteering for the Brownies and Girl Scouts, was an active member of St. Joseph's Parish of Woods Hole, and was a member and past president of the Emblem Club. After residing on the Cape for most of her life, she had moved to Amesbury in 2003.
She is survived by 4 children, sons John E. Cauley and wife Robin of Plymouth, Ma. and William C. Cauley and wife Louise of Falmouth, Ma., daughters Marcia Gilmore and husband Andy of Amesbury, Ma. and Kathleen K.C. Browne and husband Walter of Medfield, Ma. 6 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Stasia Nunes.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday Feb. 11, 2012 at 10:30 am in the Holy Family Parish Church on 2 School St. in Amesbury, Ma. followed by a reception in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the St. Vincent dePaul Society 9 Sparhawk St. Amesbury, Ma 01913. Arrangements are by the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home in Amesbury.
