West Newbury, MA — William Holmes Belair Sr., 78, longtime resident of West Newbury, died on Saturday afternoon, November 30, 2013, at the Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, after a long period of declining health. He was the devoted husband of Marilyn T. (MacDonald) Belair.
Born in Somerville, he was one of three sons of the late Jerome R. and Julia (Holmes) Belair. He was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School, Class of 1953.
Mr. Belair was a wholesale distributor for Arnold Bakery, with a customer base throughout New England.
In addition to his wife, Marilyn, of West Newbury, he leaves behind his two sons, Keith Belair and wife, Kristen, of Malden, and William H. Belair Jr. and wife, Allyn, of South Lake Tahoe, Calif.; his two daughters, Nicole Cousins of Newburyport, and Monique Labrecque and husband, Kenneth, of Newbury; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, George Belair of Nashua, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Jerome Belair.
For his family, he has left behind fond memories of family gatherings, from graduations to weddings, to christenings and holiday festivities, all filled with the love and pride he had for those who were so dear to him.
ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, December 5, at 10 a.m., at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 42 Green Street, Newburyport. Interment in Walnut Hill Cemetery, West Newbury, will be private for the family.
