Amesbury, MA — Richard Anthony Hume passed away early Thursday morning after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was the husband of 61 years to Frances (George) Hume. Born in Amesbury, he was the son of the late George and Bridget (Baker) Hume.
A lifelong Amesbury resident, he attended Amesbury schools and was a graduate of A.H.S. with the class 0f 1952. He went on to work many years as an electrician for Bailey's MFG. Richard enjoyed golf, fishing, music, photography, and his grandchildren. Some of his favorite times were spent camping with his family.
Besides his wife, Fran, he is survived by daughter, Karen Baptiste; son, Richard and wife, Linda; daughter, Debra Harrigan and husband, Richard; and son, Jeffrey and his wife, Laureen. He was predeceased by his son, Jonathan. He also leaves his devoted grandchildren, Tom, Wendy, Joel, Sean, Adam, Jacob, Jenson, Joshua, Brianna, Kathy, and Jackie; his two brothers, Joseph and William Bernard Hume, and well loved great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was brother to the late Andrew, George, and John Hume.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours at the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home, 118 Friend St., Amesbury, are Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a service to follow at noon. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
