Philip E. Drolet, 73

Merrimac, MA — Philip E. Drolet, longtime Merrimac resident, died peacefully Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Maplewood Care Center in Amesbury.

Born in Haverhill, Aug. 7, 1940, Phil graduated from Haverhill High School in 1958. Upon graduation he joined the U.S. Coast Guard, serving from 1959-1963 and then was employed at Massachusetts Electric from 1963-1978. Phil continued his career as a lineman at the Merrimac Light Dept. from 1978 until his retirement in 2000.

Phil was the son of the late Paul L. and Louie J. Drolet of Haverhill and was predeceased by brothers, Paul L. and Richard E. Drolet.

Phil leaves is wife, Elaine (Cooney) Drolet of Merrimac; his children, Christopher J. Drolet of Enfield, Conn., and Susan E. and husband, Barry P. Nangle, Jr. of Byfield. He was the grandfather of Barry P. Nangle, III and Brooke E. Nangle. He also leaves many nephews and nieces as well as sisters and brothers-in-law.

ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours at Paul C. Rogers & Sons Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main St., Merrimac, will be Monday, July 7, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral service at the funeral home will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. followed by burial in Locust Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Life Choice Hospice, 161 South Main St., Suite 209, Middleton, MA 01949-2469, or to the charity of one's choice.

His family would like to thank the staff at Maplewood Center and Life Choice Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
