Acton, ME — Marion “Ferne“ Fay passed away gracefully and peacefully after a lengthy stay at Colonial Hill Nursing Facility in Rochester N.H. She was the beloved wife of the late Warren G. Fay who died in April 2012. They had been married for 65 years.

Ferne was born in Ipswich to Gladys M. Wiley Homans and Benjamin W. Homans. She attended Ipswich schools and studied further at Essex Agricultural School where she took classes in tailoring. She was still servicing her customers, right up until she had her stroke in 2010. She was a long-standing member of TOPS in Georgetown and Sanford, Maine. She also worked for "Ma Bell" as an operator until the towns of Amesbury and Ipswich went "dial."

She was proud of her heritage, being a descendant of the famous Benjamin F. Ellsworth, lighthouse keeper in Ipswich in the 1880s. Ferne and Warren loved to travel and had been to most of the United States, especially all of New England, Missouri, and many National Parks including Bryce Canyon and Yellowstone Park.
