NEWBURYPORT — Laura Winella (Miller) Terry was born March 12, 1918.
Her kindness was given to all and her heart was always there. Her husband was the late Wilbur Terry. Laura worked at Ruth Shoe Company in Newburyport for many years as well as the Kramer Shoe and Byron Shoe Companies in Haverhill. Later she worked at the Chronic Hospital in Newburyport. Her father Emery Miller, loving mother Gertrude (Roy) and two brothers Emery Miller of N.H. and Harry Miller of N.C. have all predeceased her.
She is survived by a son Emery Terry and his wife Helen of FL, daughters Janet Hull and her husband Jeffrey of Amesbury, Betty Tapley of Newburyport, MA and also her son in law Reginald Tapley of West Newfield, ME. She had 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
She taught corps cadets at the Salvation Army, located on Middle Street in Newburyport at the time and always attended services and functions with her children. Aunt Laura's home was a busy place with lots of love, laughter and children. The house was always full of or with relatives. She made it a happy home by loving every person and child. Her small yard was a beautiful spot for all to venture into...including her. She loved nature and taught us the same. Her favorite Sweat Shirt to wear said "Don't Worry Be Happy".
ARRANGEMENTS: A Memorial service will be on Saturday, January 28th at 1:00 PM at the Salvation Army, 40 Water Street, Newburyport MA 01950. There will be a reception following the service also at the Salvation Army. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 40 Water Street, Newburyport MA 01950 or to Betty Tapley, 17 Ship Street, Newburyport, MA 01950.
