Cynthia Lusher, 82

MERRIMAC — Cynthia (Conant) Lusher, age 82, of Merrimac, died Saturday morning, January 21, 2012 at Haverhill Crossing, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Jamaica Plain, Boston, August 9, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Dorothy ( Jellison) Hughes and was a graduate of LaSalle College. A bank teller for more than 30 years with the Institution for Savings in Newburyport, she retired in 1994. Mrs. Lusher volunteered at Anna Jaques Hospital as well as the Merrimac Senior Center, and she loved to do puzzles, knitting, gardening and spending time with her lovable pups, P.J. and Mya.

Her survivors include her son, Charles Lusher of Merrimac; three grandchildren, Corey Lusher and wife Brenda of Westborough; Holly Lusher of North Andover; and Jesse West and wife Kristin of Great Mills, MD; two great-grandchildren, Kiera and Emily; two nephews, Chris and Jeff Furbank; one niece, Cindy Blanchard, and many dear friends.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be Wednesday, January 25, 2012 from 5 to 8 P.M. at the Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport. Funeral services at the funeral home will be Thursday at 11 A.M. followed by interment in Belleville Cemetery, Newburyport. Kindly omit flowers, instead, donations in her memory may be made to the Beacon Hospice, 350 Main Street, Haverhill, MA 01830.

    Newburyport — David James Taylor, 47, of Newburyport entered heaven’s gates on May 21, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.

    David was born in Boston, MA, on October 25, 1964. He graduated from Saugus High School with the class of 1983 and continued his education at Essex Agricultural and Technical Institute, graduating in 1988 with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Culinary Arts and Food Service Management. He was a chef and baker for 21 years. He then worked for The Handyman Inc. company as an assistant taking the skills he learned and used in his home and applying them to a trade that gave him great satisfaction.

    Born in Amesbury, December 16, 1923, he was one of four children of the late Patrick and Hannah Quinn, and upon graduating from the eighth grade at St. Joseph School in Amesbury, he immediately went to work on the family farm on Whitehall Road in Amesbury. He dedicated his entire life to his farm, never regretting the long days or the hard work. His choice to be bound to the land that he loved and cherished, sharing its bounty with family and friends, always filled his heart with much pride and gave him great satisfaction.

    Born in Amesbury, August 9, 1951, he was the loving son of Cecile A. (Proulx) Ouellet and the late Adrien “Shorty” Ouellet, who died May 21, 2011. A graduate of Amesbury High School, he was a star player for the Amesbury High School football team, receiving two four-year football scholarships, one to Marshall University in West Virginia, the other to Idaho State University. After receiving the news about the plane crash of November 17, 1970, which carried the entire football team from Marshall University, Norman decided on Idaho State College.

Theodore “Ted” Sutton who died in 2005. Catherine was born in Providence, RI, on January 19, 1929, and is the daughter of the late John and Catherine Langton. She was devoted to her family and is survived by her daughter, Lisa A. Sutton of Amesbury, MA, and her son, John T. Sutton and his partner Martin Mendoza of Pflugerville, TX. She is lovingly known as “Bee” by her three grandchildren, Daniel, Charles and Alexandra St. Pierre of Amesbury, MA, who adored their grandmother. Catherine is also survived by one sister, Joan Gerules and her husband Ernest Gerules of Marlton, NJ; her sister-in-law, Jane P. Sutton and her partner MaryAnn Lautt of Bristol, PA; her niece, Pamela Smith and family of Haddon Heights, NJ, and nephew Timothy Gerules and his family of Germany.
