Charles W. Tilton, 82, of Salisbury, formerly of Hampton, NH, died Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Port Healthcare Center in Newburyport with loving family by his bedside.
He was born in Tilton, NH, February 2, 1930, the son of the late Charles W. and Mae L. (Simmons) Tilton.
Mr. Tilton graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1948, from the University of New Hampshire in 1954 and from the University of Southern New Hampshire in 1961.
He was a proud U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Charles was employed as an accountant in Hampton for many years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of Star in the East Lodge #59 F & AM of Exeter, NH, the Hampton Kiwanis and American Legion Post 309 of Salisbury. He had resided for 20 years in Hampton before moving to Salisbury in 1990.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline F. (Belanger) Tilton of Salisbury, his son, Mark Tilton of Dover, NH, his two daughters; Medra Tilton and her husband Scott Wright of Exeter, NH and Marla Harris and her husband Gary of Craig, CO, his step-son, Richard Perrin of Fremont, NH, his step-daughter, Michelle Kenney and her husband John of Fremont, NH, his six grandchildren; Alyssa Saunders and her husband Erik, Stephen Tilton, Christopher Braley and his wife Desiree, Alex Braley and Kiana and Jacob Wright and his step-grandchildren, Jessica and Joshua Kenney. Charles was the sweetest guy on earth and is now in heaven, he will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia A. (Carswell) Tilton in 1987.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, March 26, 2012, in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH. Services will follow the visitation starting at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in the High Street Cemetery, Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
