Seabrook, N.H. — Edith A. Jones, 85, of Seabrook died Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover, with her family at her side.
She was born December 3, 1926 in Salisbury, the daughter of the late Edward and Della (Carter) Noyes.
She was raised in Newbury, one of five children. She attended Newburyport Schools and Essex Agricultural School.
She worked for the shoe industry for most of her life, retiring in the 70’s, when she opened her own rug and wool shop in her home. Edith continued to make braided rugs and creative rag dolls and sold them at the holiday fairs. She enjoyed camping with her family, going for rides with her Boston Terrier, Dutchy and enjoyed cooking and listening to classical country music, playing Bingo on Tuesday and Saturday nights.
She was a lifetime member of the Women’s Raymond E. Walton Auxiliary Post #70 of Seabrook.
Family members include her husband and best friend of 50 years, Floyd M. Jones of Seabrook; her daughter, Tracy A. Jones and her fiancé, Charles H. Marshall, Jr. of Seabrook; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; her sister, Beverly Doyle of Newburyport, also survived by many nieces and nephews, and her beloved Boston terrier, Dutchy.
Mrs. Jones was predeceased by her son, Glenn A. Jones and daughters, Diana M. Broyer and infant Gail Broyer and her stepson, Floyd T. Jones; she also was predeceased by her siblings, Forrest Noyes, Leonard Noyes and Emily Knapp.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be Sunday, October 14 from 3-6 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, N.H. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, Seabrook.
