Amesbury — Florence M. Bernier, formerly of Congress Street, passed away Thursday morning at Kindred Care-Brigham Manor in Newburyport. She was born in Amesbury and was the daughter of the late Theophile and Rose (Fournier) Thibault. She was the wife of the late Theophile Bernier who passed away in 1981.
She was a longtime Amesbury resident and worked at Louis Shoe and in her later years at the Twin Lantern Dairy Bar. She was an active longtime member of Sacred Heart Parish where she was a member and treasurer of the St. Anne's Sodality and worked many of the holiday fairs and bean suppers. In her younger years, Florence performed on the St. Jeans Drill Team. She was also a very giving person and was known to lend a hand to family and friends in need. She lived in her own home well into her 90s and she enjoyed cards, jigsaw puzzles, and was an avid sports fan, especially hockey.
She is survived by one son, Louis Bernier and his wife Linda; two daughters, Rose Marie Bailey and husband Jackson and Annette Tedoldi and husband John, all of Amesbury; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Louis, Theophile, Paul, and Bertha Thibault and Marguerite Bernier.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Oct. 29, at 10:30 a.m. in the Holy Family Parish Church, 2 School St. in Amesbury. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home, 118 Friend St. in Amesbury, are this Sunday from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to Our neighbors.
