Amesbury, MA — Richard J. Howe, formerly of Dorchester, MA, passed away Wednesday morning at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Dorchester and was the son of the late Richard and Mary (Spillaine) Howe.
He graduated from Dorchester High School and enlisted in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged. He was employed as a truck driver for many years with Mystic Island Transportation until his retirement in 2007 and was proud of being a Teamster for nearly 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Elizabeth "Bernie" Howe, his 5 children, Pamela Maliszewski and husband Dan of Newbury, MA, Patrick Howe and his wife Teale of Epping, NH, Kalyn Howe of Haverhill, MA, Christine Procaccini of Florida, and Kelly Howe of Braintree, MA, his 10 grandchildren whom he adored, Adam, Ali, Tyler, Grady, Ashley, Adreanna, Anthony, Geoffrey, Nicholas, and Danielle, his sister, Theresa VanDamm and her husband Michael of Barnstead, NH, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. He was the father of the late Richard Howe.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral Mass will be celebrated this Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at 10:00 am in the Holy Family Parish Church, 2 School St. in Amesbury, MA followed by burial in Union Cemetery. Calling hours at the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home, 118 Friend St. in Amesbury are Friday from 4-8 pm.
