Amesbury, MA — Nancy E. (Perkins) Walker, age 83, lifelong Amesbury resident, passed away peacefully at her home with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of the late Clarence M. Walker, who died January 17, 1998.
Born in Amesbury, June 15, 1930, daughter of the late Henry M. and Dorothy (Rhodes) Perkins, she was a graduate of Amesbury High School.
Devoted to her family, she was proud to be able to stay home to raise her eight children, giving them the attention they deserved and providing a loving, nurturing home life. Nancy was always ready to welcome anyone into her home to serve up her home baked treats, loved the company of family and friends, and looked forward to time spent with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, she was a very caring foster mother and took care of many of the neighborhood children, all of whom referred to her as “grandma.” She was also a Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader and taught Sunday School at the Market Street Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Betty King and husband, Leonard, of Seabrook, NH and Lisa Walker; sons, Curt Walker; Paul Walker of Amesbury; Wayne Walker; Charles Walker and wife, Jodie, of Wheelersburg, OH; and Michael Walker and wife, Denise, of North Hampton, NH; two sisters, D. Sarah Gould and husband, George, of Norfolk, VA, and Alice Strawser of Newport News, VA, along with several generations of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Carol Reisenger; brother, Henry Perkins Jr.; and brother-in-law, Robert Strawser.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours at the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, will be Sunday, October 20, 2013, from 2 to 5 P.M. Funeral Services will be held Monday at 11 A.M. at the funeral home, followed by burial in Union Cemetery, Amesbury. Donations in her memory may be made to the Girl Scouts of Eastern Mass., 1740 Turnpike Street, N. Andover, MA 01845.
