Amesbury, MA — Irene Duclos passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon at Kindred Brigham Manor in Newburyport. She was born in Amesbury, and was the daughter of the late Alfred and Elizabeth (Sicard) Huard.
Irene was a lifelong Amesbury resident, graduating from AHS, Class of 1947. Three years later, she graduated from Melrose Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse. In 1951, Irene married Verne Duclos, and this past summer, celebrated 62 years of marriage to her beloved husband.
During her career, Irene worked at the Amesbury and Anna Jaques Hospitals and also at Brigham Manor Nursing Home. Irene enjoyed private duty nursing, because she could devote all of her attention to one person. In addition to nursing, Irene spent much of her time outside gardening as she truly enjoyed the outdoors. However, Irene's major focus was her family.
Besides her husband, Verne, she is survived by three children, daughter Karen McGrath and husband, Joseph, of Amesbury, son, Michael Duclos and his wife, Diane, of East Kingston, NH., and daughter, Kathryn Carter and husband, Monty, of Mont Vernon, N.H.; her grandchildren, Erin Vedrani, Amy Keller, Laura Duclos, Melissa Gray and husband, Darin, Samantha Teal, and Andrea Duclos; and her great-grandchild, Aiden Bisson. Two very special people Irene leaves behind are her sisters, Marie Goss of New Durham, N.H., and Louise Cronin of Edgewater, Fa. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral Mass will be celebrated this Friday, January 31, at 10:30 a.m., in the Holy Family Parish Church, 2 School St., Amesbury. Calling hours at the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home, 118 Friend St., Amesbury, are on Thursday, January 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to Our Neighbors Table, P.O.
