Patricia A. Roaf, 66

Salisbury — Patricia Ann Roaf, 66, of 9 Brooks Road, Salisbury, completed her life’s journey much too soon on September 8, 2013. "Pat," as she was always known, was born in Newburyport, and was the daughter of the late Everett and Alice (Tina) Martin. A 1964 graduate of Newburyport High School and 1979 graduate of Whittier Vocational Technical School nursing program, she spent a 30-year career as a nurse at the Anna Jacques Hospital. In 1965, she married Dennis B. Roaf of Newburyport, and together they raised two daughters and a grandson. She is survived by her husband, Dennis; daughters, Stephanie Roaf of Newburyport, and Denise Holden, wife of Michael, of East Boston; grandson, Devin, age 13, and granddaughter, Mackenzie, age 4; brother, Everett (Red) Martin and his wife, Arlene, of Florida; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; and two sisters in friendship, Debbie Downs of Salisbury, and the late Ute Marin of Plaistow, N.H.

Pat will be remembered for the important role she played in so many lives as wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and health care provider to a generation of patients.

Her courage in the face of adversity was an inspiration. She spent what became her final hours happily surrounded by family, celebrating the birthday of one of her beloved grandchildren, with chocolate birthday cake and laughter.

ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Twomey, LeBlanc and Conte Funeral Home, 193 High Street, Newburyport, Mass. A graveside service will be offered on Friday, at 11 a.m., in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Newburyport. To offer condolences, please visit www.contefuneralhomes.com.
