Merrimac, MA — Henry F. Kelly, age 79, longtime resident of Merrimac, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, with his loving family by his side. He was the devoted husband of Carolyn J. (Moran) Kelly, his wife of 49 years.
Born in Haverhill, March 27, 1934, he was the son of the late Henry W. and Alice J. (Hansen) Kelly and was a graduate of St. James High School, Class of 1951, after which he attended Merrimack College for two years.
For 52 years “Kelly”, as he was known by his friends and colleagues, worked as a stationary fireman for Cowan & Shain Inc. in Haverhill and had been a volunteer firefighter and EMS coordinator with the Town of Merrimac for 22 years.
He was a dedicated family man, cherishing every moment spent with family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Carolyn of Merrimac, he is survived by his son, Eric Kelly of Milton, Mass; his daughter, Sara Edic and husband, Jason of Merrimac; his six grandchildren, Liam, Ava and Ronan Kelly all of Milton and Olivia, Ella and Gavin Edic all of Merrimac; as well as his sister-in-law, Arlene Moran of Bradford. He is predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Jennifer (Chistolini) Kelly.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours at Paul C. Rogers & Sons Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main St., Merrimac, will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services at the funeral home will he Thursday at 11 a.m. By request of the family, interment will be private.
