SALISBURY — Franklin R. Davis, 86, of Salisbury, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010 at Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill. He was the husband of Maxine (Getchell) Davis.
He was born in Wells, Maine on Oct. 21, 1923, the son of the late Fred W. and Beatrice F. (Bragdon) Davis. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U. S. Navy as an Aviation Machinist Mate, Second Class. He was a firefighter for the City of Haverhill, retiring after 38 years.
He was a member of Saggahew Lodge A. F. & A.M. and of Aleppo Shrine. He was an avid golfer and was a Yankee baseball fan.
In addition to his wife Maxine of 48 years, he is survived by a son, Jay Davis of Salisbury; two grandchildren, Jayson and Teagan Davis; four great-grandchildren; two step-daughters, Tauny Fowler and Leeann Palis; a step-granddaughter, Jennifer Ferdette; a sister, Mildred "Millie" Mackie; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Scott Mullen, and several brothers and sisters.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green St., Newburyport, will be Tuesday (tomorrow) from 10 to 11.45 a.m. The Saggahew Lodge A.F. & A.M. will conduct a masonic service at 11.45 a.m., followed by a funeral service at noon time. Burial will be in Long Hill Cemetery, Salisbury.
