Newburyport, MA. — Irene Fairbrother, formerly of Amesbury, passed away Sunday at the Kindred Brigham Manor in Newburyport. She was born in Amesbury and was the daughter of the late Frank and Florette (Gill) Somers. She was the wife of the late James B. Fairbrother. She grew up in Amesbury and attended Amesbury schools. She was once employed at Bailey's MFG but most of her life was a homemaker. She later worked at the Internal Revenue Center, retiring after 10 years of service. She attended the former Sacred Heart Church. She resided in Amesbury most of her life and wintered in Florida for 20 years. She also enjoyed traveling and dancing.
She is survived by one son, Robert Fairbrother and his wife Rita of Winter Haven, Fla., one daughter, Anne Sands and her husband William of Amesbury, her brother James Somers of Amesbury, 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Realitives and friends are invited to a funeral mass to be held this Thursday, Feb. 21 at 10:00 am in the Holy Family Parish Church, 2 School St. in Amesbury. There will be no calling hours and burial will be in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave. 7th floor, New York, NY 10001. Arrangements are by the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home, 118 Friend St. in Amesbury.
