Frank E. Miller


Newburyport, MA — Frank E. Miller, 90, lifelong resident of Newburyport, died peacefully at Portsmouth Regional Hospital on Monday evening, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Newburyport on July 3, 1923, he was the only child of the late Frank W. and Laura W. (Hopkinson) Miller. He was a graduate of Newburyport High School.

A proud veteran of World War II, Frank served with the United States Army Air Corps from October 30, 1942, until his honorable discharge on February 6, 1946, with the rank of Private First Class.

Returning home after the war, he went to work for Towle Silversmiths in Newburyport, until his retirement 40 years later.

He was a longtime member of St. John’s Lodge, A.F. & A.M. of Newburyport, and was a founder of the Revolutionary Re-Enactment Organization of the Newburyport Marine Militia, as well as a lifelong member of Belleville Congregational Church.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Florence E. (Bell) Miller in 1995, and his dearest daughter, Jane E. Reynolds in 1994. Frank is survived by his son, Frank E. Miller Jr. and wife, Carol, of Newburyport; his four grandchildren, Melissa J. Cotter and husband, Frederick, of Newburyport, Dawn E. Miller of Newburyport, Leighton A. Reynolds and wife, Melissa, of New Hampshire, and Heather J. Riley and husband, John, of Hampton, N.H.; along with his son-in-law, Leighton Reynolds of North Berwick, Maine.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, will be held on Thursday, March 27, from 4 to 7 p.m., with Masonic Services held at the funeral home at 3:30 p.m., conducted by St. John’s Lodge. Funeral services at the funeral home will be on Friday, at 11 a.m., followed by burial in Belleville Cemetery, Newburyport.
